The Dream Team has a big day today! Not only are we
into week three of our Pinterest Inspired challenge, we are also playing with
Ranger's Stickles Dry Glitter in the mix! We've had
so much fun playing with jars of sparkly goodness, that we want to share the fun
with two lucky crafters!
For my Pinspiration creation today, I thought I'd make me a new piece of jewelry to wear this summer. Everyone who knows me knows I just love to create little accessories to wear for the different seasons. In the past I have created several pendants using Dreamweaver stencils with polymer clay. So today I thought I'd change it up a bit and go a little bit more "artsy" and create something a little more colorful for the summer.
My inspiration piece came from here. I knew I wanted to do a watch piece because I had bought Tim Holtz's watch frame awhile back and it was begging to be used and so I searched on "pocket watches" and was I surprised at how many hits came up.
Supplies used:
- Dreamweaver LS94 Bird on a Branch stencil
- Dreamweaver LL405 imagine inspire believe stencils
- Dreamweaver Black Matte Embossing Paste
- Dreamweaver Color Solutions Alcohol Ink in Black Pearl and Citron
- Ranger Black Diamond Stickles Dry Glitter
- Ranger Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Shabby Shutters
- Ranger Ink Blending Tool with Foam and Felt Pads
- Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black
- Tim Holtz Idea-ology Watch Frame
- Black Ball chain
- Swarovski crystals
- Shrink Plastic
First off, let me say I love glitter and own tons of it! But I have never found a black glitter that I really loved until I found Ranger's Black Diamond Dry Glitter. Too many times in the past, the black glitter has been almost matte in color and didn't really reflect and add shimmer. Not the case with the Black Diamond glitter. I love the full spectrum of colors you get in the sparkle. Trust me, this is one glitter for your must have list!
This was fairly easy to create. First off using the Blending tool and foam pad, color a piece of white cardstock with the Distress ink. Once dry, paste emboss the bird stencil and sprinkle with the Black Diamond glitter. (For more detailed info on how to paste emboss, please go to PaperCraft Planet's blog (www.papercraftplanet.com) and check out the Dreamweaver tutorials.
While the paste dried, stencil "imagine" onto a piece of clear shrink plastic with the Archival ink. Remove stencil and "shrink"the plastic with a heat gun. Once cooled, add color to the back side of the plastic using Dreamweaver's Color Solutions in Citron.
Since the watch is a antiqued pewter color and I really wanted mine to be black to match the chain, I simply colored the watch with Dreamweaver's Black Pearl alcohol ink. How cool is that?!
Assemble, embellish with the crystals and there you have it! A fun and somewhat artsy, somewhat whimsical necklace perfect for the summer.

You have some really lovely projects, Cherylynn! I like your banner statement about a second childhood. I can relate; when I grow, er, Upper, I want to leave teaching behind and play with glitter instead!

Great project for this week. very nicely done...and thanks for sharing the link to the inspiration page...lots of ideas there.
This is really amazing. And I agree with you about the color black....not only in glitter. I think it is hard to find good black in lots of items for stamping. Thanks for your inspiration.
